In Georgia, the cow has the right of way. Round a bend on a mountain road and there one is, standing square in your lane, chewing, in no hurry at all. You stop. You wait. So we did the only sensible thing and turned it into a game.
Play Cow on Road, it’s free →Meet Cow on Road
Cow on Road is a free little browser game where you are behind the wheel of a marshrutka on a Georgian road, and the job is simple: do not hit anything. Cows wander out without looking. Cars brake hard for jaywalkers. Scooters weave, dogs give chase, and every so often a pothole sends you bouncing across the lane.
It honks. It yells. A quiet Georgian road would not be a Georgian road at all, so passing cars lean on the horn and shout out the window as you go. The longer you survive, the faster everything gets. Even your first word of the language is hiding in there. A cow, after all, is a ძროხა (dzrokha).
There is nothing to install. It runs in any browser at cowonroad.ge, and a run takes a couple of minutes.
Climb the leaderboard
Every score goes on a monthly leaderboard, and the highest-scoring driver each month wins a free EasyGeorgian course bundle. The board resets on the first, so a good month is always within reach. Here is where things stand right now:

Live from cowonroad.ge. The board resets at the start of each month.
If your name is not up there yet, that is a problem you can fix in about two minutes.
The cows are real. So is the rest of it.
Cow on Road is a joke, but the country it is a love letter to is not. The wandering livestock, the marshrutka that treats lane markings as a gentle suggestion, the horn that means hello and watch out all at once: that is daily life here, and it is one of the things you quietly grow to love.
Learning even a little Georgian is the difference between watching all of that from the passenger seat and actually being in it. So go dodge some cows. And when you want to know what the driver behind you is shouting, the first lesson is free.
