EasyGeorgian releases a 5,000-word Georgian flashcard deck built from real frequency data

EasyGeorgian has released a flashcard deck of the 5,000 most common Georgian words, ranked by how often the words actually occur in large bodies of real Georgian text and then curated and verified by Georgian teachers.

Most Georgian vocabulary material is organized by topic, which teaches words a learner might use. Frequency ordering teaches the words a learner will use, because a small set of common words does most of the work in any language. The first thousand words alone cover a large share of everyday speech.

Every card in the deck carries a native audio recording, an illustration, a transliteration and an example sentence, and the deck runs on the platform’s spaced-repetition system across web and mobile. For learners who own an EasyGeorgian course, the deck automatically skips words their course has already taught, so it works as a supplement rather than a re-run.

“Word lists for Georgian have existed for years, and they are exactly that, lists,” says Lasse. “We wanted the version you can actually learn from: ranked by evidence, checked by teachers, and with sound and images on every single card.”

The first 100 cards are free for anyone with an account. The full deck is $19.95 as a one-time purchase, and free with any course purchase made within ten hours of a learner’s first visit. Existing course customers received the full deck at no cost.
