EasyGeorgian publishes the first State of Georgian Learning report

EasyGeorgian has published the State of Georgian Learning 2026, the first annual report on demand for the Georgian language. Every figure is sourced, and the full dataset is free to use under a CC BY license.

No census counts language learners and no platform publishes numbers for Georgian, so the report assembles the signals that can actually be measured. Worldwide search interest in learning Georgian ran 141 percent higher in the first half of 2026 than a year earlier. Georgia recorded positive net migration for a second consecutive year, and the 2024 census counted 133,857 foreign citizens permanently resident in the country. Tourism set an all-time record in 2025 with 5.52 million overnight visits.

Against that demand, the report documents a strikingly thin supply side. Nine of the fourteen major language platforms audited offer no Georgian at all, and the three largest tutoring marketplaces list 85 Georgian tutors between them, worldwide. The report also prices every route into the language, from books and schools to tutors and apps.

“The honest answer to how many people are learning Georgian has always been a shrug,” says Lasse. “We assembled every number that actually exists, sourced each one, and made the data free for anyone to check or reuse.”

The report’s source ledger contains 260 entries with archived originals. The full report is available at easygeorgian.com/state-of-georgian-learning, and corrections are welcomed at [email protected].
